Course Description

In this course you will develop the knowledge and skills needed to identify and address performance problems. You'll also learn how to determine if the problems can be tackled with an "instructional intervention" (i.e., a workshop) and/or through other types of interventions (e.g., performance incentive programs).

Because there are many techniques for performing a needs assessment, the most effective techniques will depend on the situation in which you are conducting the analysis. For this reason, the primary focus of this course will be helping you develop proficiencies in selecting and using various needs assessment methods. You will also work on ways to present the results of your needs assessment in a professional package that can easily be submitted to a colleague, supervisor, or an external client.

This course is taught completely online and is part of MU's graduate program in Educational Technology. For more information on how to earn a Master's Degree or Educational Specialist Degree in Educational technology, please visit
